Canton- Judith Deese, age 80, a beloved, kind and special lady, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

Judith was born October 1, 1938 to the late parents, Edward and Cathleen Smith. Judith was a lifelong resident of Canton and was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother.  She was an amazing cook and her delicious homemade biscuits were the best that anyone had ever tasted! Her favorite food was fried mushrooms!  Judith was a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Canton, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on April 12, 1971.  She held a strong faith throughout her life and was not ashamed of her faith in Jesus.  She also attended Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville in her later years with her son, Ken. Her caring and loving heart touched many and in the words of her family, “She was an awesome Mother.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bracy Deese who passed away in 2011; her brother, Floyd Smith and her sister-in-law, Edna Smith.

Surviving are her three children, Rick Deese and his wife, Susan of Wake Forest, Debbie Deese of Chapel Hill, and Ken Deese of Canton; grandsons, Justin, Jeremiah, Jonathan, Seth, Nick and Mac; granddaughters, Erin, Allyson, Nicole and Kathleen; nine great-grandchildren with one little blessing on the way;  her special caregivers during her years at Arrowhead Cove Assisted Living, including two who were " adopted" into the family, Christy and Emily King ( mother and daughter); and also many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Rd. in Asheville. Rev. Allen Rash will be officiating and Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. will bring a message of comfort for family and friends attending.  The family will be receiving friends at the church beginning at 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Deese to Arrowhead Cove at Silver Bluff Village, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC 28716 for a gift to be designated by her children.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Deese family.

Condolences from family and friends
